MENWATCHMEN

Two days I've been spending overnight works to oversee the installation of surveillance cameras in my branch. I feel like I've lost track of the date. Lack of sleep made me unproductive.

And so today after a lame attempt on getting a full sleep I drove the family off to the mall to cool off. It's a hot near-summer day. I said I will not stroll around so I've brought my sketch pad and some favorite pencils, find a cafe and try to finish the dragon that's long overdue for posting.

I was contemplating on seeing WATCHMEN.  My wife was actually encouraging me to see it while she, the kids, my mom and aunt went malling.  But after seeing the schedules and realizing the movie was too long to let my family to wait for me to finish, I said I'll just go with my first option and draw the fucking dragon.

So there I was, on an overly soft chair, a cup of caffe americano on my table, and an A4 sketch on my lap. I felt uncomfortable as people passed behind me. I moved to another spot, and looked at my watch.  Five minutes and it's the next screening of Watchmen.  To hell with the drawing and the lack of sleep, I'm gonna see it.

Awesome, awesome movie.  Not your regular superhero movie, that's what I thought.  The story really mattered and as a person who has never read the graphic novel, I'd say it's one of the best superhero movie I've seen so far.  It's got substance.  It got me glued to every dialogue as I didn't want to miss out on each character's story.

My favorite character - Rorschach, not Mr. Manhattan (though his powers are so cool). Is it just me, or is Silk Spectre II really hot?

dude, as a fantastic artist you really do owe it to yourself to read this graphic novel.

i was one of the first 9 in my city to see the film (yeah i wanted to see it THAT bad :D ), and yeah...okay...the film was probably one of the best film/comic crossovers but seriously the film is not where near as good as the book, you say that the substance of the film impressed you (rightly so, it is amazing) but the graphic novel is rediculously deep and immensly detailed.

still a brilliant film! the intro was incredible!!! :D

im starting my own book now, with a ffriend who is writing and storyboarding it for me, and the scale of this kind of project has jus hit me...

Yo iwazaru! Haven't heard (or read) from you in a while! How's it going man?

Oh damn, if I had known I wouldn't like how Preludes and Nocturnes was illustrated and that Watchmen would be showing, I would have searched for the Watchmen book instead :sniff: It's so damn expensive!

Funny thing is, for my birthday, my wife bought me this amazing book frokm Gary Tonge about digital painting. When I opened it we were both excited. Then she told me that she was contemplating on buying that or the Watchmen book. SNAP!!! Oh well, still enjoying Tonge anyway. :D

Ah yes, a storyline. Awesome. Hope it goes well. Just stick to the plan no matter how big it might seem for you. Good luck and I hope to see it materialize soon. :)

its all going peachy budd!

yeah i think the watchmen was about £17.99 worth every penny though, its like a reference and the ultimate comic bible haha :)

that sounds awesome, good on your wife!! she sounds really cool for doing that :D
digital though... thats something i have never used on a comic level, i mean im no stranger to photo shop! but i havent got it on my home pc so i jus havent had the chance to try it. i dont know how i feel about it to be honest, i love inking by hand (although my inking is somewhat depressing me at the moment) and i spose digital takes from that? but like i said i have never tried it.
speaking of cool comic related books my mum bought me two books on how to draw comics, one on fusion comics and the other on military comics so widening the horizon for me :)

haha yeah, its a labour of love, and its taking over my college work :D, im like the only guy (as far as i know) in the college whose doing this as sort of art, so it does kinda get lonesome, when your sat on your own inking up a page :) but i wouldnt trade it :)

write back man

Yo. I've been busy. ^^;

It's great that your mum supports your interests! :D So sweet of her.

I suggest you focus first on your traditionals before going digital. Traditional is pretty handy and light, and you can practically draw anywhere with ample lighting. For digital, if you wanna go outside you'd have to bring a laptop that runs on a two or three-hour battery :D Plus, there are some things (actually, a lot of things) that you can do in traditional that you can bring into digital, but there are digital techniques that you just can't bring into traditional. At least that's how I've always felt about the two.

Yeah, my son and wife tell me we need to see it.

I hear only one character has powers. I like that.

D.C.'s The Warlord is my favorite comic book. After I discovered it in when I was about 7, superpowers had less appeal to me.
I'm glad their popularity grows, and I'm looking forward to digesting more FireCaster story.

Sometimes, though, all a man needs is a .44 magnum AutoMag a broadsword and the occasional laser.
Dragons, yes we need dragons.

Ha ha ha! Yes, indeed, we need dragons and magnums and swords and occasional lasers, but you forgot to mention chainsaw :D

Ah, my brother, you wanting more of the FireCaster makes me happy. I can only dream about seeing it on the big screen, perhaps fifty years after my lifetime :D

Sounds like something I might expect for my stuff.
But we live in a world where it shouldn't be like that.
It should happen within our lives!
