My dA friend and ballpen genius 7774RK deactivated his account! What the hell is going on here?!
Marcos is one of the coolest guys I've met here on dA and it's really sad to see awesome artists such as him to leave. Has he arrived at the point where the community is no longer inspiring for him?
Anyway, I do hope he comes back. I can't imagine myself deactivating my account. I have worked so hard on improving my art because of deviantArt.

I was so excited to find an artist community, when I stumbled upon dA. But I don't think I have got out of dA what I really expected. I mean, the whole concept of dA and how it works is in theory very good. but after a while, you realise the sheer number of people who are on here, trying to get noticed. and it's not just about pageview numbers and faves, it's the fact that our work is not being seen. And as a result one might not get the feedback that they're looking for. that can be disheartenning, because exposure leads to feedback, and feedback is what is needed for the developing artist. And let's not even get to those who are trying to make a bit of money on here..
it's not all doom and gloom though. I think it's a gradual process, and by being active members of the community one can increase their exposure. For me, I've kind of made my peace with things. I'm no longer relying on feedback and such (though I do really appreciate my watchers and friends), and have re-evaluated my expectations. I see dA now as a tool for me to browse art of the level I aspire to, and maybe give feedback where I think I am in a position to.
I had to remind myself recently that in the end it's all about the art. I just need to enjoy doing it, and get better at it. If now-and-then, someone stops by and says 'hey, that's cool!', then that's great.
Up to now I am still learning, but the craving for my art's popularity has taken a back seat (perhaps even the rear compartment). Now I just do it for fun
If the emphasis is brought back to art: developing your own work as well as helping others with theirs, then dA is a great way to do that. Remembering that it is actually very cool to be part of an artistic community. I think we all at some stage expect that dA is our way to 'make it'. And that is not always true..
Your 'Grounded' comicbook pages, are they for publishing? I bet ~RomanovMT would be very interested in offering you a stint in his webcomic.
'Grounded' is a story written by someone else, so for publishing, it would have to go through the writer.. I will be sure to contact said deviant. thanks for the link, it's much appreciated...
